Shared-Source Marketplace

Our industry has a long history of cooperation in the operational domain. Despite increasing competition, cooperation between airlines still makes sense to share development and maintenance costs. For this reason, OpenAirlines encourages cooperation between airlines by promoting an original model: the Shared-Source Marketplace.

Principles

The principles of the Shared-Source Marketplace are:

  1. Contributing airline transfers code to the marketplace
    • Code value is evaluated

  2. Contributing airline gets immediate payback
    • Airline gets discounted support & maintenance

  3. OpenAirlines animates the marketplace
    • Publicizes the application
    • Improves it and makes it suitable for other airlines
    • Finds customer airlines
    • Organizes users' club

  4. Customer airline adopts the application
    • Gets the product for free or for a fee (depending on model)
    • Orders improvements
    • Gives back improvements to the marketplace

  5. Contributing airline gets additional payback
    • Retribution for usage of customer airline
    • Product improvement through customer airline's extensions
